Everything you need to know about fees, insurance, and getting started.
This is the most common question we hear! Here is the breakdown to help you decide who to see:
Who should you choose? For medication, see a Psychiatrist. For a formal diagnosis or assessment, see a Psychologist. For therapy and support, both Psychologists and Counselling Therapists are excellent choices—pick the person you feel most comfortable with.
Our fees generally range from $160 to $240 per 50-minute session, depending on the clinician's designation and experience level.
| Clinician Type | Typical Fee (50 min) |
|---|---|
| Licensed Counselling Therapist | $160–$220 |
| Registered Psychologist | $235 & $240 |
Compassionate Rates: We encourage our therapists to reserve some time each month to provide sliding scale fees for those who need a compassionate rate. If you have financial need, please contact the office to see if such slots are currently available.
Yes, but it depends on the specific therapist you work with. Many of our clinicians can direct bill to major providers like Medavie Blue Cross, Canada Life, and Desjardins. We also bill directly to Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) and the RCMP. Please confirm direct billing availability with Michelle when booking your intake.
No, services from Psychologists and Counselling Therapists are not covered by Medicare NB or other provincial health plans. However, many private/extended health insurance plans provide full or partial reimbursement for our services, and we can provide detailed receipts for submission.
Yes — we believe cost should not be a complete barrier to care. Many of our clinicians reserve a limited number of sliding-scale spots each month for clients with demonstrated financial need.
Availability varies by clinician and month, and these spots fill quickly. If affordability is a concern, please mention it when you contact us (phone or intake form), and our intake coordinator will check current options and discuss what might work for you.
We do not have an unlimited low-cost program, but we’re committed to helping where we can and can also provide community resource suggestions if needed.
No. You can self-refer to Webber Psychology at any time; a doctor's referral is not required to access our services.
We prioritize accessibility and can usually schedule your initial assessment within weeks.
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We'll review your intake forms, discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, explore your goals, and start building a plan. It's mostly conversation—no "deep dive" into heavy topics unless you're ready. Many clients feel a sense of relief just from taking this step.
We recommend a longer intake (75 minutes) if possible, so we have time to begin the work right away.
A standard session is 50 minutes long (the therapeutic "hour"). The remaining time is used for notes and preparation.
Most clients start with weekly sessions, then move to bi-weekly or monthly as they progress. Frequency is always tailored to your needs and discussed with your therapist.
Intake Recommendation: We often suggest booking a longer intake session (1.5 sessions / 75 minutes). This gives us enough time to not just hear your story, but to actually get started on the work in the very first meeting. However, it does increase the cost so ultimately, it's your choice.
When you book an appointment, that time is reserved exclusively for you. We do not double-book. Because of this, if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, we are unable to offer that spot to someone else on our waiting list. Late cancellations and missed appointments will be charged the full session fee.
Yes. Your privacy is paramount. Everything you discuss is strictly confidential and will not be shared without your written consent. There are legal limits to this (such as imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, or child abuse), which your therapist will review with you in the first session.
Yes! We provide:
Availability depends on the clinician—check our Team page for specialties or ask during booking.
Our Registered Psychologists can provide formal diagnoses for conditions like ADHD, PTSD, anxiety disorders, and depression as part of therapy. We also offer some psychological assessments.
We do not currently provide comprehensive autism assessments. If a formal assessment is needed, we'll guide you to appropriate resources.
Please discuss your needs during intake to match you with the right clinician.
Our intake coordinator Michelle will ask about your concerns and preferences, then match you with a clinician based on specialty, availability, and personality fit.
You can also browse clinician bios and specialties on our Team page and request someone specific when booking.
Our main clinic is located at 1015 Regent St in Fredericton.
Note: Andrew Culberson also sees clients from his home office in Douglas (Fredericton North). Your appointment confirmation will clearly state which location your session is at.
Yes. Research shows that virtual therapy (telepsychology) is as effective as in-person therapy for treating anxiety, trauma, and depression. We use a secure, PIPEDA-compliant platform (Jane App) to ensure your privacy.
We use the secure Jane App video platform (fully PIPEDA-compliant). You'll receive a unique link by email before your session—no app download or account needed. Just click the link at your appointment time from a computer, tablet, or phone.
We recommend testing your camera/microphone beforehand and finding a private, quiet space.
